We picked all our grapes this year despite Covid-19, and it’s a great vintage with exceptional small, intensely flavoured berries arriving at the winery in excellent condition.
The House block, next to the house and winery in Kitchener Street was completed in late March – some rows before, and some after lockdown. The original block, as the vines are un-grafted and on their own rootstock, needed a little more time so were picked a little later – but once again the grapes show great flavours and intensity.
We have now completed our ferments (20% whole bunch, and 21 days on skin) and the wine is being run to French barriques, (a 1/4 new) as we speak.
With such a great start, it will be a joy to see our wines develop in barrel and we will keep you posted on progress – but for now we have time to focus on getting last year’s wines into bottle!
